2014年賀寶芙盃少棒賽，南投縣代表隊陣中多達5名球員來自千秋國小，事實上，這支球隊去年還在打軟式。

千秋棒球隊雖然成立將近30年，由於位於南投招生不易，去年才從軟式轉打硬式，意外讓他們磨出當今這支「內地軍團」，從縣預賽脫穎而出。

「我們學校在南投市區，但全校只有62個學生，是地方最小的學校。」千秋教師兼總教練、同時也是南投縣總教練的蔡育揚說。

「因為人少，六年級又沒幾個，這幾年我們只能打軟式，但這批才實在不錯，去年5月讓他們改練硬式。」蔡育揚說。

球齡尚淺、經驗不足的小學生，轉型期間當然得經過陣痛期，這一年來，千秋幾乎每戰必敗，但也是在失敗中求成長，才有今天的收穫。
