美國明尼蘇達州的17歲男孩魯迪‧赫梅爾(Rudy Hummel)為了鍛煉自己，接受了在野外生存一年的考驗。他甚至曾於零下70度時，在自己搭建的雪屋裡安然入睡。

中新網據外媒報導，赫梅爾曾在夏天的時候，在自家後院搭建了一座木屋。而冬天，當氣溫已跌至約攝氏零下13度時，為了過冬，他又建造出一間雪屋，並住在裡面。

由於今(2014)年冬天極為寒冷，赫梅爾稱自己曾渡過最寒冷的一天，當時室外溫度達到了零下70度。即便這樣，對他而言，夏天還是比冬天更難熬一些，滿身的汗水時常讓他難以入睡。

赫梅爾坦言，自己在參加童子軍的時候就學習了如何建造房子。他們家原先居住在阿拉斯加州，經常舉辦露營活動，那個時候他就學會了很多搭建技巧。
